Sensiba is proud to be one of four public accounting firms chosen to support California attorneys under the State Bar’s Client Trust Account Protection Program (CTAPP).
As part of this initiative to enhance accountability and transparency of client trust accounts, randomly selected attorneys are required to undergo compliance reviews by approved CPA firms.
Sensiba will continue to participate in this program by providing CTAPP compliance review services to help selected attorneys and firms confirm proper recordkeeping, appropriate handling of client funds, and adherence to regulatory standards.
What Is CTAPP?
CTAPP, a regulatory program aimed at strengthening public protection and improving compliance with trust account obligations, requires attorneys to:
- Register IOLTA and non-IOLTA accounts annually
- Complete a self-assessment of trust account practices
- Certify compliance with Rule 1.15 of the Rules of Professional Conduct
- Participate in compliance reviews if selected
Sensiba’s Role in CTAPP
Our team worked closely with the California State Bar to help develop the framework for these mandatory CTAPP compliance reviews, and have already performed numerous reviews through the State Bar’s initial voluntary phase for law firms that volunteered to be reviewed.
This collaboration has given us unique insight into the program’s structure, expectations, and review procedures. We understand CTAPP compliance and the dynamics of navigating attorney-client privilege as well as the stress and burden of being selected, and we’ve built our service to address these and align seamlessly with the State Bar’s requirements.
If you’ve been selected for a trust account CTAPP Compliance Review, connect with Sensiba today to move forward with clarity and confidence.
